Lazy Sundays

I had a great lazy day today. I went to church this morning. Then spent the whole day on the couch. I watched 3 or 4 movies and took a nap. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Just watched Desperate Housewives and now Brothers and Sisters.

Must get to bed soon. I have work tomorrow. It will be a long busy week! I hope it warms up a little. I like winter, but this weather is crazy cold. It is really making me ready for my flip flop weather!

January

Well, it is the new year-2010. Sounds weird to me. Once again, it has been a few weeks since I have posted. What can I say but that I am busy with work and lead a boring life with little to write about. I enjoyed a snow day this week. I just hope we do not have to make it up. Just found out today that we might have to wear school uniforms next year. I don't mind the uniforms but the colors? not so sure about those. It is not approved yet so we will see what happens. I also bought new clothes this year for our new dress code. So next year, they want to pay me less money but make me buy all new clothes for work. Is it just me or does that sound a little unfair?

I went to a baby shower today for a family friend that I have known since she was born. She is having a girl and got some really cute things including some pink new balance tennis shoes. It made me really excited for Alisha to hurry up and have her shower. Her shower is at the end of this month. I have already bought a gift (several actually). I will have to choose what to give her at this shower and what to give her at her church shower. But most of all, I am ready for Parker to get here. Not that I am rushing him. I do want him to wait until it is time. I plan to spoil him terribly.

School is really busy. I think I have overextended myself with my new schedule. I don't know when I will get my paperwork done. I guess I may have to stay late a couple days a week. I usually get to walk out at 3:15. One of the perks of my job-no lesson plans, grading, organizing, copying, ect. Well, now I am having to do some of that so we will see how it goes. And I am so ready for the new building to be finished. The first date was Dec 4. Then, it moved to Jan. 9. Don't know when it is supposed to be finished now. I just know I am still in my little office in the workroom. Teaching a class in the workroom. I am so ready for my new room. Cross your fingers that the building will be completed soon before we all go crazy.

Sorry for the rambling. I go from one topic to the next! But it is my blog so I guess I can do what I want to do. I love writing for fun and not for work or school.

Sad Day--Please Pray

Please say a prayer for the family of the people that were killed in the fire in Starkville this morning. Two of the children attended Sudduth where I work. I am sure their classmates and teachers need your prayer as well. May God be with the family and friends of these sweet children and their mothers.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

Well, the last few days have been so much fun. Yesterday, my family came over to my house for Christmas Eve brunch. My sister and I cooked (with mom's help) all kinds of wonderful breakfast foods: hashbrown casserole, pigs in a blanket, sausage crescent rolls, cinnamon rolls, ham and cheese grits. It was all great. We ate way too much. Then, it was time to open presents. Usually I really enjoy watching my dog Snickers open presents. He wasn't to into it this year. He was only interested in getting a treat to eat. The rest of us took turns opening our presents. My mom and dad had to take a few extra turns because they had so many presents to open. I got everything I asked for and more (jewelry armoir, watch, coach purse, stand mixer, pajama pants, wrap, money, heated throw, etc.). I feel so blessed to have such a great family. It was so much fun to watch my family open their gifts as well. I started shopping early this year so I had to wait a really long time to give my gifts. (I always have a hard time waiting to give my gifts.) After we opened presents and cleaned up (which I am ashamed to say took about 2 hours), we all watched a movie together that my sister had bought for daddy. I was not the life of the party at this point. I had a headache so I slept through most of the movie. Everybody left after the movie. It was raining and they had to load up all of thier stuff. The weather was so bad yesterday. I thought my roof was going to blow off! I still had a headache so I missed the Christmas Eve service at church last night.

Today was fun as well. We all went to my sister's for lunch. They had a small problem right before I got there. My sister was cooking a huge turkey in the oven and the oven caught on fire. Some of the juice from the turkey spilled over into the bottom of the oven and caused a fire. Thank goodness they got out the flour and were able to put it out. So we will remember this Christmas as the one when the fire department came out to Alisha's house. (Thank goodness we didn't need them!) Anyway, the rest of the day went without a hitch. We had a great time. The food was great--even the turkey. We all exchanged gifts and once again I got some great things (jewelry, scarf and gloves, gift card, homemade jelly, and bath and body hand soap). Grandma was there and I love seeing her. (She missed Thanksgiving because she was sick.) We spent the afternoon talking and visiting. This afternoon I came home, watched a movie, and took a nap. (Nap--What a great way to end the day.)

The only bad thing about today is that it means that almost half of my holidays are over. I am trying not to think of it that way. I am sure by the time Jan. 4 gets here I will be ready to go back to work. (Maybe??)

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I hope yours was as great as mine. I love spending time with family and friends, but may we all remember the reason for the season: JESUS CHRIST. May we remember that the reason we exchange gifts is because of the gift God gave us when He sent His Son to earth as a baby. May we remember this all year not just during the Christmas season!!! Thank you God for all of your many blessings this Christmas!

My Weekend

I have enjoyed the first two days off. I slept in yesterday and then spent the afternoon watching a movie. I went to mom and dad's house for a visit. I got to see and play with Snickers. Mom and I played yahtzee. She won of course. Then, we ordered supper from The Grill and visited. I came home and watched another movie. Four Christmases-I had already seen the movie at the theatre, but it was just as funny the 2nd time.

Today, mom and I went to my aunts house in Hattiesburg by ourselves for our first family Christmas. My dad and sister had to work, and my brother-in-law is on a hunting trip. We had fun but it was such a long trip. 3 hours down there and 3 hours back. We had to get up early (which I hated) and leave my aunts by 2:30 to get back to see the children's Christmas program at church tonight. (My GAs were in the program and I wanted to see them.)

Tomorrow I have plans with mom and Alisha. We are going to the council house in French Camp for lunch. They have the best potato soup and broccoli salad. (yes, I know these two foods do not go together.) Mom has never been and I have only been once. It will be nice to hang out together and eat some good food. I hope to sleep in a little before having to get ready to go. Guess I should get off of here and get to bed. (I still have to check facebook. LOL)

Happy Holidays....I love Christmas break!!!!!!

Holiday Break

Hello everyone! I am so excited about my Christmas break that officially started today a little after 2:00. I spent the afternoon with friends at Harvey's eating and exchanging ornaments. Then, a few of us went to a movie. What a great way to start out the holiday!

I plan to spend my holiday with family and friends. I get to rest, relax, and do a little cooking tomorrow. I also need to finish up some gift wrapping. I will start out the holiday celebrations Sunday at my aunts house in Hattiesburg. All of my dad's family will be there. I hate that my sister will miss it but she will be at work. My sister and I plan to take my mom to the council house in French Camp for lunch one day next week. Christmas Eve brunch will be at my house. I am excited about having everyone over. We will eat some delicious brunch food: hashbrown casserole, sausage crescent rolls, cinnamon rolls, ham, etc. We will also open all of our presents! Yeah! We will go to church together that night for the Christmas Eve service. Christmas day will be spent at my sister's house. My mom's family and Vince's family will come over. Maybe I can talk some of them into a movie that night.

I hope to get some rest and relax some this holiday season too. You know-- sleep in, stay in my pjs for most of the day, and skip the make-up (at least a few days). I am sure that I will watch a lot of movies during my break.

Before I say goodnight, I want to give a shout out to my wonderful friend Laura T. She fixed up my blog for me with this great wintery scene. Thanks so much Laura!

I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas. Remember the reason for the season: Jesus Christ our Savior!
